Season 2012 Kicking off!!!

To kick off this season, the club is organising a day out skiing and  social party down Penarth slipway.
All members welcome, Bank holiday Easter Monday 9th of April from 10am.
The club boat and club jet-ski should be out for us to use,please feel free to bring your own craft too.
There will be teas, coffees, burgers and cakes.
Looking forward to see you all on the water!

it is with great sadness that we been informed of Graham Evans death, he was a valued member of the club in the golden days.

Ceremony at Thornhill crematoriam at the Wenallt Chapel at 1.15pm .

Then there will be light refreshments at Fynonwhen Restaurant opposite the entrance to the crematorium.

Hyperlite wakeboard set FOR SALE!

My names Nick, Im a student currently studying at Cardiff Uni!

I was a very keen wakeboarder but due to ridiculous costs of living at the moment, Im selling my pride and joy!

Its a Hyperlite Byerly 56″ Wakeboard with Shaun Murray full boot bindings with a padded carry bag!

Its an around 2008 model and has hardly been used and just been stored indoors in its bag for the last season and half!, its in really good knick and will be gutted to see it go, its just, unfortunately, not getting any use with me!

I have it listed on eBay starting at £295 with a buy it now of £425, including a few extras such as impact jacket, gloves, rope and handle!

Volunteers needed! European Cup Ski Race Finals

The weekend of the European Cup Ski Race finals will be upon us soon on the weekend that is 5th-7th August. Penarth Water Ski Club will be helping with race organisers to make sure the event runs as smooth and efficiently as possible. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic volunteers to help with a number of tasks that are crucial to an organised race weekend. The tasks will range from marshalling, site security, parking management, boat washing etc… Its a great chance to get close to the action and see these high powered boats from Formula3 to Formula1 close up and top racing teams that travel from all over Europe to take part in this prestigeous circuit.

As we are looking to cover the whole weekend if you think you are available for at least one of these days please get in touch. You can contact dave.jenkinson@penarthwaterski.co.uk to register interest, please leave your name and contact number and we will contact you shortly. You do not have to be a member to participate and any help will be gratefully received.

We will be holding a race organisers meeting at Maindy Leisure Centre on Wednesday 20th July at 7pm.

Glyn Neath Lakes Trip!…

Its been a while but the time has come for a mass migration to Glyn Neath Lakes with the boat and jetski for an afternoon/evening full of freshwater events. There will be food and drinks available and most importantly there will be boats and fuel!… We are looking to kick off the action around 4pm on Tuesday 26th July until dark. Penarth Water Ski Club are one of the lucky few to have boat and jetski permits to ride on this picturesque freshwater lake so if you dont want to miss out please register your interest by contacting dave.jenkinson@penarthwaterski.co.uk. New website launch

Due to some management issues with the previous website I have decided to move all of our content over to a WordPress themed site. WordPress has been around for a long time and is a widely used publishing/blogging tool. The site will develop as it is being used so please be patient as all of the information is uploaded and tweaked! Also mail me with any suggestions of what you would like to see on the site and if its popular and feasible it will be added.

Unlike the previous site I have steered away from a full blown forum as they are rarely used unless the site has thousands of users. Instead discussions can be held on an article by article basis as news and events are released. You need to be logged in to comment on any news articles!

Starters

TO SHARE

1. Hummus with extra virgin olive oil and smoked paprika.

2. Potatas bravus

3. Bell peppers stuffed with cream cheese

4. Pigs in blankets with English mustard mayo

5. Crushed peas with feta, mint and spring onion

6. Crayfish in tomato and chilli

Mains

1. Braised feather blade of beef with celeriac, potato puttee and buttered sprouts with a red wine and port sauce.

2. Herb and parmesan breaded turkey breast with orange and cranberry jam, steamed broccoli and mini bacon toasters.

3. Portobello mushroom chestnut and spinach pie with a parmesan pult pastry crust served with baby carrots, peas and buttered potatoes.

4. Honey glazed salmon fillet with a parsnip and potatoe puttee and creamed spinach

Puddings

1. Warm, home-made chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce

Glyn Neath lakes trip

Dear Members, We are organising a trip to Glyn Neath lakes, tomorrow, Thursday the 22nd of July, from 3pm till dusk. There will be the usual ingredients for a fun afternoon of water sports: • Exclusive use of the lake • Burgers and welsh cakes( Pam, Rita, ok with you?) • Gazibo if needed • And hopefully a bright sunshine! Could you please let me know in return if you can make it and how many of you are coming as well as if you are intending to take your craft up there? (jetski or boat) The club jet ski and club boat will probably be taken up there if in good working order. I look forward to hear back from you all. Thanks! Cecile
